I have fleas in my carpet....help!?

I'm pretty sure I'm bringing them in from outside...I only have 1 cat inside and he has advantix on him(he never goes outside). I need to know what I can do to kill them....without harming my pets...fish, turtles, millipede, mouse, hermit crab, tarantula...oh, and the cat. I've tried flea carpet powder...didn't seem to phase them.
