I saw blood, is it caused by the breaking of my hymen?

Yesterday, I made out with my bf. We never had before but he had fingered me previously, a couple of times. However, ytd, he inserted his into my virgina. I felt a sharp pain and the next thing that happened..I saw fresh blood. I know its different from period blood because it is not gooey nor brown. It is bright red in colour. Now, I'm worried. Could it be because he has broke my hymen? But the thing is, he fingered me previously. And there was no blood. Am I still a virgin?
