Need help to identify my ?small bush or tree?

I have a plant which I have now brought inside. It has had beautiful delicate flowers on it al summer long. They are yellow and pink and purple and are the size of thumb. After the flowers fall off there are little green cluster . They then turn purple and eventually dry. Then they fall to ground. I was told to bring in when the weather gets cooler which I have done. This small tree or shrub has green leaves and to me anyway smells like pion fruit when you pinch a leaf. Does any one out there know what this plant is called as I would like to know if berries on are dangerous as I have pets. I have removed all the berries as they were drying up and falling on floor.
