Is this fair at work or not?

Ok, so I work in a nursing home in the nuursing department and we must wear scrubs. Since I started there we were aloud to wear any scrubs, but the rules are being changed and scrubs with pediatric prints (Spongebob, Scooby Doo, ect) are no longer permitted since it is ageriatric setting (old people). Since I'm in school and broke, I don't have a lot of cash for new scrubs. I did buy some of those $8 scrub tops and decided to go to a local craft shop with a coworker and "spice" up our cheapo scrubs with some personal decor'. On my black scrub top I used red glitter to write "Angel of Death" across my chest. I also wrote "C*m Dumpster" across my white scrub top in gold glitter and on my blue top I used black glitter to write " Star". White scrub pants are now required so I spiced up my back pocket to say "Inject Here" since we are nurses, I thought this was acute idea. Our D. O. N. didn't like my new scrubs and told me we (me and my coworker) can't wear them anymore to work.
