Why can't I connect with anyone with the same interest as me?

I am a student currently attending my in state University and I can't find anyone that has the same pion as me. I'm a guitar player that is a complete aficionado of jazz fusion music and I had to major in something other than music just so I could get a stable job. Everyday I have to sit in my cles listening to people rabble about their daily lives while I just stare at the ceiling waiting them to shut up. Everyone around me feels like a bunch of morons that are only interested in screwing, getting drunk, partying, and acting stupid. Most of them just have mediocre dreams of getting a job, making money, and paying their bills like every other average joe. I've spoken with some of the musicians too and they seem so institutionalized that they can't even enjoy a simple rock tune. I am very right brained and I can pretty much see past all of the pseudo garbage into adult hood. I can't find anyone with any deeper philosophical thinking. Btw... I live in Las Vegas. All the real musicians are usually guys around their 40s that actually take things seriously. The other kids still seem like a bunch of little kids that still haven't gotten past their highschool years. I wish I could move out but my financial problems are pretty much my own ball and chain.
